We’ve replaced real-life social interactions with the curated and polished versions of them that we present on social media. And in doing so, we’ve lost sight of what it means to be a human.
We are all connected in this world, but it seems like we’re becoming less and less connected as time passes. Social media allows us to see every aspect of someone’s life, but in doing so, we miss out on the simple joys that come from sharing your life with another person face-to-face:

That makes up an authentic connection between two people who care about each other. When I was younger I used to think that having social media would make me more popular, but now I realize that it makes me feel more lonely than ever before because everyone seems to have a better life than me!
This is why I’m taking a break from social media this week. Not because I don’t want people to know what I’m doing or where I am. But because I want people to know me as more than just my profile picture or my cover photo or my witty tweet about how much I hate Mondays (which isn’t even true anymore!).
